The sketch is from a Khorsabad relief depicting Assyrian soldiers of Sargon II breaking foreign idols in pieces in 714 BC. They are using long handled axes to crush the idols into pieces.
The Bible mentions that the Lord allowed the Assyrians to be his instrument for a certain period of time, but ultimately their idols were going to be cut in pieces and the nations that they deposed. The northern kingdom of Israel were committing idolatry and worshipping the calf (bull) throughout their history, until the Lord sent the Assyrians to uproot them from their capital, Samaria. Hosea the prophet made a clear protest of their idolatry:
"The calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces" Hosea 8:6
The Assyrians came and smashed their idols, and carried the northern 10 tribes of Israelites away into captivity.
Other archaeological discoveries at the site of ancient Samaria unveiled many of the small pagan idols that they worshipped, dating back to the 8th century BC.
The Assyrians made many boasts of their victories over the peoples that they had conquered, including the Israelites.

2 Kings 11:18 - And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.
Micah 1:7 - And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered [it] of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.
2 Chronicles 31:1 - Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities.

Exodus 15:6 - Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
Psalms 2:9 - Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

2 Kings 17:26 - Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.
