The Valley of Jezreel

Painted sketch of the Valley of Jezreel. Many famous battles were fought in this valley. Jezreel is the Hebrew word and Esdraelon is the Greek word for this valley or plain. The large valley traverses across central Israel from the Jordan River eastward to the Mediterranean Sea, creating a natural boundary between the Samaria and Galilee regions. The Jezreel Valley forms the central part of the triangular plain of Esdraelon. Farming was abundant in the Jezreel Valley. The fertile soil grew rich crops and a plentiful harvest.
