What is Surety?
        SURE'TY
In Heb 7:22, Jesus is called the "Surety of a better testament" (covenant), because his divine character, position, and dignity give to 'the new covenant of grace' its value. We are sure it will be carried out. The danger of becoming surety for others is strongly represented. Prov 6:1; Prov 11:15; Prov 17:18; Prov 20:16; Eze 22:26. The striking or joining of hands was a token of suretyship. Job 17:3.
