What is a Sieve?
        SIEVE
Isa 30:28. The bolter, or sieve, which is so necessary an article in our day in the preparation of meal for bread, etc., was in ancient times made of rushes and papyrus. Ancient writers say that only the Gauls had sieves of horsehair. What was left in the bolter was put into the mill a second time. Sieves of various degrees of fineness were no doubt used, for the same authors tell us of four different qualities of meal.
