What is Salim?
(peace, or fountains ?), a place named to mark the locality of AEnon, where John baptized. John 3:23. Some identify it with Salem. Eusebius and Jerome mention Salim as near the Jordan, 8 Roman miles south of Scythopolis. Robinson suggested that it was identical with the village of Salim, 3 miles east of Nablus. Barclay proposed to identify it with Wady Selim, 5 miles north-east of Jerusalem, a wild ravine running down from Anathoth, but Conder appears to adopt the location suggested by Robinson. See Enon.
