governor of Moab, a person whose descendants returned from the Captivity and assisted in rebuilding Jerusalem (Ezra 2:6; 8:4; 10:30).
pahath-moab in Smith's Bible Dictionary
(governor of Moab), head of one of the chief houses of the tribe of Judah. Of the individual or the occasion of his receiving so singular a name nothing is known certainty but as we read in #1Ch 4:22| of a family of Shilonites, of the tribe of Judah, who in very early times "had dominion in Moab," it may be conjectured that this was the origin of the name.

PA'HATH-MO'AB (governor of Moah), the head of one of the principal families of the tribe of Judah, whose descendants returned with Zerubbabel, Ezr 2:6; Rom 8:4; Ezr 10:30; Neh 3:11; Neh 7:11; Num 10:14. With respect to the name, it may be noticed that, according to 1 Chr 4:22, a family of Shilonites, of the tribe of Judah, had in early times "dominion in Moab."
