Pool of Israel

The pool of Israel ran across the north wall of the Harem esh Sharif, which in ancient times was the northern portico of the Court of the Gentiles. Both the Pool of Israel and the Sheep Pool were cut in a valley to reduce the amount of cutting into the rock bottom that was required to sustain water. Their level was controlled by dams across the valley. Today all that exists of the Pool of Israel is a parking lot with some small shops.
