Everybody knows about the Declaration of Independence. Western leaders often quote the American Constitution as an example of a true democratic manifest. It’s accurate that US citizens enjoy various rights and freedoms today. But all those privileges had to be claimed and won in bloody wars for American independence. Such events were a turning point in human history. Like tectonic shifts creating a domino effect across Europe and establishing a new world order in the process. Mighty empires fell while people rose up, demanding more freedom and liberty. Everything started in a faraway British colony with a rebellious attitude. Also, in true British custom, everything started with a Tea party — a massive event in Boston.
Witnessing a Birth of a nation is quite inspiring. Reading about the victories of George Washington definitely inspired oppressed people everywhere. The global impact of the American Revolution lies in a revelation that a small, organized group of rebels defeated a superior British army. Those who believed in ideals fought with passion in their hearts. Showing others that it’s possible to win against grim odds gave courage to French people to try the same thing a few years later. People of South America started forming their own national conciseness. Soon, the fire spread to Latin countries. It’s not an understatement to say that this event marked a point of no return, creating a domino effect on a global scale.
That is why everyone has to know the causes, impacts, and outcomes of this significant event in time. History articles teach you how economic troubles lead to political upheavals. Any student who wants to write an essay about the American Revolution can check some free written examples that provide all the necessary information to get started. Studying expert writing before the assignment is a reasonable way to structuralize your thoughts and create your own paper.
Debating about all the positive and negative effects of the American Revolution is an endless topic. That’s because there are so many favorable and damaging consequences altogether. History will give its final verdict. We can explore affairs that gradually escalated into an open war between the British crown and its colonies. In an age of booming commerce, all events had global consequences. The aftermath of the Seven Years’ War caused a heavy tax burden on colonies. Contempt, followed by protests, finally escalated into an open rebellion. History was about to change.
Seven Years’ War was the biggest global conflict before World War I. It’s a perfect sample of intertwined interests in some new modern world in the making. England emerged victorious on all fronts, but the treasury was depleted. Heavy taxation of American colonies is how King George III imagined balancing his budget.
People hated paying heavy taxes more than anything. Political protests brought even harsher repercussions. Many colonies lost autonomy or political freedoms in England’s attempt to regain authority. Boston Tea Party symbolically started a war for independence. Real causes were economic in nature. Also, principles of freedom, human rights, or civil liberties appealed to repressed groups.
Modern humans take many rights for granted. Colonists’ hopes or dreams represented something new. A nation in the making. Or a unique example of a perfect utopia of free citizens enjoying unseen privileges. All these ideas became a cornerstone of the American dream.
The impact of the American Revolution on other countries is seen in today’s Western democracies, which adopted such ideals. But many wars and revolutions were still waiting to happen. Americans just planted the seed.
Constitutional democracy became a standard for the civilized Western world. Surely, it must have been exciting to live in those times. Many essays emphasize the importance of civil rights proclaimed after the British defeat. None of that would have been possible without the entrepreneurial spirit of colonials. Those men cherished commerce and independence more than blind loyalty to some king who never set foot on American soil. Global trade proliferated immensely. Unfortunately, slavery even flourished for another century. Also, Native Americans suffered an even worse fate than British soldiers in the aftermath. The legacy of revolutionary wars includes:
Every research on this topic cites all aforementioned events as a prelude to the French Revolution. It’s quite ironic how the French financed wars in the US to spite the British. Eventually, that revolutionary flame came to France as well. In the twilight of the 20th century, we eventually witnessed a triumph of Western democracies. Ideals of liberty, equality, social justice, and civil rights persevered. After the French revolt, new rebellions across Europe followed. Some new hierarchies gradually replaced old rules. More than anything, hope awakened in people’s hearts. Hope for a change and a better future.
The wheel of history revolves constantly. Progressive liberal forces always fight against repressive regimes. Defending the privileges of free speech, open thinking, and democracy is an ongoing battle. Oppressive forces never sleep. Taking freedoms for granted is dangerous. If not careful, you might wake up one day in some country resembling Iran or North Korea. That’s why remembering people who fought for human rights and liberties is important. Letting that guard down gives rise to populist and radical ideas. As long as people respect the legacy of the Revolutionary Wars, we have a chance to build a better society.
Events leading to the colonist’s rebellion were a result of a changing world. Markets have become closely connected. Innovations became common. Globalization started slowly but inevitably. Every war resembled a global and not a local conflict. With its vast resources, America emerged as a new power, disrupting the old hierarchy. This new nation brought fresh ideas of liberty, freedom, and constitutional democracy. It inspired many to follow in her footsteps. First French, but others soon followed. Today, many people enjoy pop culture, or the right to vote or speak freely, thanks to the legacy of anonymous freedom fighters. Our obligation is to honor their legacy.
