The Sacred Journey of the Son of Man Unto Jerusalem
The Path Toward the Holy City
And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of Man, made His way toward Jerusalem, the city of the great King.
From Galilee He traveled, through the towns and villages, teaching the people and healing their infirmities, saying,
"The kingdom of God is at hand; repent ye and believe the gospel." (Mark 1:15)
The Prophetic Purpose of His Journey
For it was written by the prophets that the Messiah should come to the city of David, to suffer, to be rejected, and to rise again on the third day.
Jesus knew this, and His heart was steadfast, though the road was long and the path full of trials.
"Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man hath not where to lay His head." (Matthew 8:20)
Teachings Along the Way
As He journeyed, multitudes followed Him, and He spoke in parables, opened the eyes of the blind, and gave sight to the lame.
"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." (Matthew 5:5)
"Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all." (Mark 9:35)
The Triumphal Entry Foretold
When He drew nigh unto Jerusalem, He sent forth His disciples to bring Him a colt, the foal of an ass, saying,
"Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me." (Luke 19:30)
And they brought Him the colt, and He rode upon it, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,
"Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass." (Zechariah 9:9)
The City’s Response
And the people spread their garments in the way, and cried out,
"Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord!" (Matthew 21:9)
Yet in their hearts were the seeds of doubt, and the councils of the elders were set against Him.
The Fulfillment of His Mission
Thus did Jesus journey to Jerusalem, not as a conqueror of armies, but as the Lamb of God, to offer Himself for the salvation of many.
"For the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45)
And so the city that once rejoiced would in time reject Him, and the cross would be set upon Golgotha.
Let All Remember
Let all who read these words consider the road that Jesus took, a journey of love, sacrifice, and obedience to the Father’s will.
For He is the way, the truth, and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by Him (John 14:6).
