Ephialtes in Harpers Dictionary of Classical Antiquities
An Athenian statesman, a friend and partisan of Pericles, whom he assisted in carrying his political measures. He was instrumental in abridging the powers of the Areopagus-a measure assailed by Aeschylus in his Eumenides.
