What is a Promise?
        PROM'ISE
, in opposition to "threatening," signifies generally an assurance of the bestowal of some good or the removal of some evil, but refers more especially to the spiritual gifts of God - the Messiah, the Holy Spirit, and the Christian Church. Thus those who have received these gifts are called "children of the promise." Rom 9:8.
