What is a Mitre?
        MI'TRE
        , the head-dress of the Jewish priest, was of fine flax or linen, made with many folds, making in length eight yards, finished with elegance and taste, and wreathed round the head in the shape of an Eastern turban. It bore upon its front a gold plate, on which was inscribed "Holiness to the Lord." Ex 28:4, 2 Kgs 18:37, Gen 36:39; Ex 29:6; Ex 39:28, Ex 39:30; Lev 8:9; Lev 16:4.
