Who is Habakkuk?
        HAB'AKKUK
(embrace), one of the twelve minor prophets, of whose birth we know neither the time nor the place. He lived in the reign of Jehoiakim or of Josiah. Prophecy of, relates chiefly to the invasion of Judaea by the Chaldeans, Hab 1, and the subsequent punishment of the Chaldeans themselves, ch. Hab 2. The passage Hab 2:4, "the just shall live by his faith," furnished to Paul the text for his Epistle to the Romans. Rom 1:17; comp. Gal 3:11. The third chapter is an eloquent and sublime psalm upon the majesty of God. Bishop Lowth says, "This anthem is unequalled in majesty and splendor of language and imagery."
