What is Galbanum?
        GAL'BANUM
, a resinous gum of dark-yellow color, produced in Syria and neighboring countries, Ex 30:34. It burns with a pungent, disagreeable odor, was an ingredient of the sacred incense, and is still valued for its medicinal properties. There is uncertainty from what plant it is obtained, but that of Palestine is thought to be from one which botanists call Galbanum officinale.
