What is a Fire-pan?
        FIRE'-PAN
, one of the vessels of the temple-service. Ex 27:3; Ex 38:3; 2 Kgs 25:15; Jer 52:19. The same word is elsewhere rendered "snuff-dish," Ex 25:38; Ex 37:23; Num 4:9, and "censer." Lev 10:1; Num 16:12; Num 16:6 ff. These utensils were probably shallow metal vessels which served either to catch the snuff of the lamps when they were trimmed or to burn small quantities of incense.
