(which God opens), The valley of, a valley which served as one of the landmarks for the boundary of both Zebulun, #Jos 19:14| and Asher. #Jos 19:27| Dr. Robinson suggests that Jiphthah-el was identical with Jotapata, and that they survive in the modern Jefat, a village in the mountains of Galilee, halfway between the Bay of Accre and the Lake of Gennesareth.

JIPH'THAH-EL (God opens),the name of a valley forming one of the landmarks for the boundary of Zebulun and Asher. Josh 19:14, Josh 19:27. Dr. Robinson suggests that Jiphthah-el was identical with Jotapata, the fortress which Josephus defended and where he was captured, and that they survive in the modern Jefat, a village in the mountains, 15 miles west of the Lake of Galilee, and halfway between the Bay of Acre and the lake.
