Father of ancestor of Joab, a Gershonite in the reign of Hezekiah. #2Ch 29:12| (B.C. before 726.) 1. A Gershonite Levite, son of Jahath (1 Chronicles 6:20). 2. Another, son of Shimei (1 Chronicles 6:42; compare 1). 3. Father or ancestor of Joab (2 Chronicles 29:12); the same collocation of names is in 1 Chronicles 6:20-21. The same names are often repeated in one family.
