God is my light. (1.) A Levite of the family of Kohath (1 Chr. 6:24). (2.) The chief of the Kohathites at the time when the ark was brought up to Jerusalem (1 Chr. 15:5, 11). (3.) The father of Michaiah, one of Rehoboam's wives, and mother of Abijah (2 Chr. 13:2).

U'RIEL (fire of God). 1. A Levite of the family of Kohath. 1 Chr 6:24. 2. The chief of the Kohathites in the time of David. 1 Chr 15:5, 1 Chr 15:11. 3. The father of Maachah or Michaiah, Rehoboam's wife and mother of Abijah. 2 Chr 13:2. In 2 Chr 11:20 Maachah is called "the daughter of Absalom," which may be explained by her mother, Tamar, being a daughter of Absalom.

1. A Kohathite Levite, son of Tahath (1 Chronicles 6:24); if the lists proceeded from father to son, without omission of intermediate links in the genealogy, Uriel would answer to Zephaniah son of Tahath (1 Chronicles 6:36). 2. Chief of the Kohathites under David (1 Chronicles 15:5; 1 Chronicles 15:11), with 120 brethren brought up the ark from Obed Edom's house (1 Chronicles 15:12). 3. Of Gibeah; father of Maachah or Michaiah, Rehoboam's favorite wife (2 Chronicles 13:2); in 2 Chronicles 11:20 she is called Absalom's daughter, i.e. granddaughter, Tamar, Absalom's daughter, being her mother.
