timnath in Schaff's Bible Dictionary

TIMNATH , and TIM'NATHAH (portion assigned), the name of two places. 1. A place to which Judah was going when he was met by his daughter-in-law Tamar, Gen 38:12-14; perhaps identical with Timnah, 1. 1. The home of Samson's wife, Jud 14:1-2, 1 Chr 6:5; probably also identical with Timnah, above, the modern Tibneh, west of Beth-shemesh. There are traces of ancient cultivation and rock-hewn winepresses, suggesting the vineyards in which he slew the lion.
