burning, a place in the wilderness of Paran, where the "fire of the Lord" consumed the murmuring Israelites (Num. 11:3; Deut. 9:22). It was also called Kibroth-hattaavah (q.v.).

TAB'ERAH (a burning), a place in the wilderness of Paran. Num 11:3; Deut 9:22. It was also called Kibroth-hattaavah, from the pestilence which followed upon the excess of the Israelites in eating quails. The Israelites rested there for at least a month.

taberah in Fausset's Bible Dictionary

("burning".) A place in the wilderness of Paran where a fire from Jehovah consumed many Israelites at the outer edge of the camp, for their murmurings (Numbers 11:3; Deuteronomy 9:22). It was close by Kibroth Hattaavah, and not a separate encampment; it therefore is not enumerated in Numbers 33:16.
