SUPERSTITIOUS . Acts 17:22. This term in the original signifies nothing offensive, but simply that the Athenians were remarkably religious in their polytheistic way. They had more gods, more temples, more festivals - in short, more religious observances - than the apostle had seen elsewhere, and he was about to tell them what he thought were errors in these services.
