PI'NON (darkness), one of the dukes of Edom. Gen 36:41; 1 Chr 1:52. His tribe was settled, according to later traditions, at Punon, one of the stations of the Israelites in the wilderness.

Genesis 36:41. Eusebius and Jerome (Onomasticon) identify the seat of the tribe with Punon, an Israelite station in the wilderness, and Phoeno between Petra and Zoar, the site of the Roman copper mines.
