oboth in Schaff's Bible Dictionary

O'BOTH (bottles, water-skins), one of the stations of the Israelites east of Moab. Num 21:10; Num 33:43. It was the first encampment after the brazen serpent was set up, and before they reached Ije-abarim. It is perhaps near the Wady el-Ahsa, on the pilgrim-route between Damascus and Mecca. This was probably on the boundary between Edom and Moab, and extends north-westward to the Dead Sea.

oboth in Fausset's Bible Dictionary

A stage in Israel's journey, on the border of Edom and Moab (Numbers 21:10; Numbers 33:43). N. of Punon, E. of the northern part of Edom. Now the halting place el Ahsa on the pilgrim route between Damascus and Mecca. Oboth means "holes dug for water"; plural of Ob or obah, Arabic weibeh. Ahsa is also a plural meaning the same. The wady el Ahsa runs N.W. into the Dead Sea, and is the boundary between the provinces Jebal and Kerak, as anciently between Edom and Moab.
