Chief military leader under Jehoshaphat, 2 Chr 17:15, and probably the father of Ishmael, with whom Jehoiada conspired to set Joash on the throne. 2 Chr 23:1. 3. One who put away his foreign wife. Ezr 10:28. 4. A priest under the high priest Joiakim. Neh 12:13. 5. A priest who officiated in the service of song at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem. Neh 12:42.

1. ="Jehovah's gift." The New Testament John, meaning the same as Theodore. 1 Chronicles 26:1, margin 3; of the sons of Ebiasaph (not Asaph, who was a Gershonite not Kohathite). 2. The captain of 280,000 in and about Jerusalem under Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 17:13,15,19). Probably the same as the father of Ishmael, the captain who helped Jehoiada against Athaliah (23:1). 3. Ezra 10:28. 4. Nehemiah 12:2,12,13. 5. Nehemiah 12:40-42.
