jaakan in Fausset's Bible Dictionary
Forefather of the Benejaakan, "the children of Jaakan," who gave their name to one stage of the Israelites’ journeyings. In <043331> Numbers 33:31 the order is, "from Moseroth" to Benejaakan; in <051006> Deuteronomy 10:6 it is "from the wells (beerot ) of the children of Jaakan to Mosera." Probably Israel visited the two places twice: on the first march toward Canaan, from Mosera to Benejaakan (<043331> Numbers 33:31); the reverse order in <051006> Deuteronomy 10:6, the 40th year, when the march was differently directed.
