('Ar Baal "hero of Baal".) Progenitor of the Anakim. From him their city Hebron got its name, Kirjath Arba (Joshua 14:15; Joshua 15:13; Joshua 21:11). Hebron it was first called, then Mamre, then Kirjath Arba, then it resumed its first name (Genesis 13:18; Genesis 23:2).
