Hangings

1. Masak, "the covering before the door (rather 'the curtain for the entrance,' so KJV distinguishes the words rightly at Numbers 3:26) of the tabernacle" (Exodus 26:36-37); of variegated stuff "wrought with needlework" ("the work of' the embroiderer"), hung on five pillars of acacia wood; the curtain, unlike the hangings at the sides and back of the court, could be drawn up or aside at pleasure. Another before the entrance of the court (Exodus 27:16). The term also is used in connection with the veil of the holy of holies, the "veil of the covering" (Exodus 35:12).
        2. Qelaim, hangings of fine twined linen for the walls of the court of the tabernacle, like our tapestry (Exodus 27:9).
