isaiah 17:14 And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

isaiah 17:14 At evening time, behold, [there is] terror! Before morning they are no more. Such [will be] the portion of those who plunder us, And the lot of those who pillage us.

14. eventide . . . before morning--fulfilled to the letter in the destruction "before morning" of the vast host that "at eveningtide" was such a terror ("trouble") to Judah; on the phrase see Ps 90:6; 30:5.
he is not--namely, the enemy.
us--the Jews. A general declaration of the doom that awaits the foes of God's people (Isa 54:17).
