The Brazen Serpent

Jesus had journeyed from Cana where he turned water into wine, He came to Capernaum, and when it was time for the Passover He journeyed to Jerusalem. He came to the Temple and when He he saw the Money Changers He drove them out and told them, "Stop making My Fathers House a house of merchandise." When it was evening a Jewish ruler came to meet Jesus, and he came during the night. Nicodemus was a member of the Sanhedrin, the Supreme Court of Israel, and he had seen Jesus doing Miracles and speaking with such authority and was intrigued. He came to Jesus with questions. Nicodemus was no doubt wondering, "could this be long-awaited Messiah?"

"Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; this man came to Him by night, and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God [as] a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him." - John 3:1
