BAB9.gif Artisans wove tapestries and rugs, and fashion gold, silver and copper goods, they cut gems and manufactured textiles. The surplus of manufacturers and agriculture spilled over into trade. Cities were themselves trading posts, depots for goods en route by boat or camel caravan eastward to India or China and westward to the Mediterranean Lands.
